I was back again at the NEC for the second time in a couple of months. This time I was here to present the book to the general public though, rather than trade buyers.
The fair was incredibly well organised, with a really festive and friendly feel about the place. Various musical performances fed the Christmassy atmosphere and this was supported by “Christmas characters” in fancy dress strolling the aisles and interacting with the crowds. I met so many lovely people that helped make the event, truly memorable.
Amongst the amazing feedback and opinions offered up, one occurrence was becoming more commonplace; the amount of people who upon picking up a copy of the book and starting read it that were moved to tears. At first I did not know what to think of this, as my intention in writing the book was certainly not to make anybody cry. By the third or fourth time it happened though, I began to realise what a truly magical thing it was to be able to bring tears of joy to the eyes of grown adults with a book initially intended to bring magic to children.
So, again it was a really successful event. I really have been so moved by the response to the book and as a result I feel extremely privileged to be writer. A big thank you to all of the people who bought books, stopped to share their Christmas memories, views on the book and generally to make this event such a lovely experience.
